On Tuesday the 7th August 2018, we were honoured to have hosted a visit by Lord Nick Bourne, Minister for Faith & Parliamentary Under-Secretary of Wales. Lord Bourne arrived at about 11:45 am and was quickly introduced to the Minister of the Church and co-superintendent of the Birmingham Methodist Circuit, Reverend Alison Richards; the centre manager, Eddy Aigbe; Rabiyah Latif, the coordinator of the event; volunteers, and community of local residents, and leaders who came specially to welcome him.
After the introductions, Rev. Alison Richards talked about Lozells Methodist Church and the work at the centre. Lord Bourne stepped forward to thank us for the warm welcome and to talk about his #FaithTour2. He, his entourage, and members of the community that came to greet him were taken on a tour of the building. Lord Bourne was shown around and was informed about all the services and projects (past and present) that the community centre provided.
After the tour, Lord Bourne and guests were served refreshments in the Church. He then gave a vote of thanks for the warm welcome, the tour, and the work that the Church and Centre are doing. He gave his approval of the work that we were doing in and for the community and encouraged us to continue. Members of his entourage also gave their approval and spoke highly about the many services, spaces, and projects that we provided to the community. We, in turn, thanked them for the visit and hoped that and our funders will continue working with us to help maintain and provide more to the community.
