We are very proud to have been delivering our “Jewels in Lozells” Project for these past two years. We’re extremely grateful that the project has been funded by the People’s Health Trust. Its main aim has been to deliver activities to empower participants from Lozells, to increase their well-being and help form a more cohesive community. Two key activities (free weekly sewing and cake decorating classes) were delivered. We also did activities with families during school holidays and a community art & craft exhibition.
After over 229 interactive sessions, feedback has shown that the participants have made positive friendships regardless of faith and/or ethnicity, they have felt great satisfaction from the vocational/recreational skills they have acquired, and for some, it has helped them to save and even earn money.
At the end of the sewing and cake classes, participants were presented with certificates and our two tutors (Ellie Braithwaite and Dorrrin Aigbe) were also presented with certificates and flowers, for all their wonderful work.
We look forward to many more years of providing this wonderful project to the community and hope that it will continue to promote friendship and understanding between cultural backgrounds and faiths.
